Matthews Pacific Tiger is doing an impressive repeat.

It's been quite a challenge to outperform both in last year's brutal sell-off and in the sharp rally of 2009, but this fund is among the rare ones to pull it off. The fund lost 46% in 2008, but that was still one of the best results in the Pacific/Asia ex-Japan category thanks to the portfolio's lesser exposure to the region's especially hard-hit export sector.  Read more

Comanager Richard Gao, who served as a foreign-exchange trader and assistant manager for Bank of China before joining Matthews in 1997, also manages Matthews China. Comanager Sharat Shroff has been with Matthews since 2005. Mark Headley stepped back from lead management responsibilities in January 2008 because of health reasons.  Read more
